Jul 28, 2022. #1. Looking for parts to put my Meadows 20" stone grist mill into operation. I am looking for one hopper leg or possibly a set, and feed shoe, eventually would like to add a sifter to it to help separate cornmeal and grits. It has the wobbler system for feed shoe and sifter. Right now, it is in the wood shop getting bad wood replaced.

Dec 10, 2006. #1. I have a 20" Meadows Mill, sold by IHC. Some of the wood has been replaced, so there's no to date it. IHC only sold them from '15 to '24, and I've seen 2 different IH stencils on the internet. Mine has the older, so I figure it's from the teens. Anyway, I would like to talk to someone who has restored one.

The only double mill I have found reference to is a Appleton #8 but this one looks a fair amount different from the photos of the Appleton that I have seen. The auction listed it as a Mc Cormick Deering Corn / Grain Feeder but its a burr mill with a shaker tray that feeds 2 burr grinders. I will attach a photo of it.

Simply put, if you want to have the option of a super fine flour, then a burr grinding mill is a good choice. An impact mill, although will get you fine flour, won't produce flour that is super fine. For bread making, a finer texture is useful for whole grains, as this will help give the bread a lighter texture.
