You can always send your lead Pokemon out to autobattle using R if you're busy. It'll be marginally less EXP than you'd get for a full battle, but it's a lot easier. I think the best place by far is the cave where articuno is. Seaform cave. Catching a dewgong or a jinx gives you like 1k exp each time. Chain any 40+ level pokemon, and after the chain climbs you will be netting thousands of experience for good catches on tiny and huge pokemon.
